CPD Accredited Skin Cancer Online Education Platform Launch

Exclusive to medical dermatologists and medical doctors

[Pretoria, South Africa]: The Skin Cancer Foundation of South Africa (SCFSA), in partnership with NeXstep Events and Functions (Pty Ltd), today announced the launch of an on-demand online skin cancer education platform.  This platform is exclusively available to dermatologists, doctors, general practitioners, physicians, medical academics, surgeons, and specialists.

The SCFSA online education platform offers pre-recorded presentations by top dermatology experts. Participants may register, book, and pay for the presentations, as well as apply for CPD certificates online.

Medical professionals can refer to the videos whenever they need them, as the subscription to the videos does not expire.

The proceeds from the presentation sales go to the Skin Cancer Foundation of South Africa, which is dedicated to promoting and educating people on skin cancer prevention, early detection, and prompt intervention.

Dr Dagmar Whittaker, President of the Melanoma Society, called for general practitioners to be trained to assist dermatologists in her closing presentation “Early Detection of Skin Cancer” during the 10th Annual Skin Cancer Update on June 17. 2023. She said:

“We are 160 Dermatologists in South Africa, clearly not everyone can be seen and sorted efficiently.  If we train the GPs, they can assist us in handling the minor cases and refer suspected cases of melanoma.  In essence, the patient is first in line, followed by a care physician, which can be a trained GP or a Dermatologist.”

This Online Education Platform aims to assist practitioners with a convenient way to be trained as per Dr Whittaker’s request, as it offers the following benefits:

  • Learn from experts: pre-recorded presentations by world-class Dermatologists

  • On-demand: Log in and learn online at a time that suits you – a stable internet connection is required. Rolling blackouts do not affect your education as you can log in and watch the presentations at any time

  • Ask questions from the video page, which will be answered by expert Dermatologists via email

  • CPD certificates: Apply online upon completion of the presentations

  • Online dashboard to manage your bookings and payments print invoices and receipts, and edit contact and billing details

  • Support:  WhatsApp technical and billing support from 8:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m

  • Content support:  any content and medical-related questions will be handled by the Skin Cancer Foundation of South Africa at support@skincancerfoundation.org.za

The SCFSA Online Education Platform will be available starting 21 August 2023 at ZAR 350-00 for 2 presentations from Prof Eckart Haneke (Germany), for 1 CPD point.  For more information on the education platform, visit the SCFSA Online Education website.
