Automated Skin Needling – My Experience With Darker Skin Type
Micro-needling is a versatile treatment option in dermatology used for a variety of indications including skin rejuvenation, acne scarring, rhytids, surgical scars, dyschromia, melasma, enlarged pores, and transdermal delivery.

Controlled dermal wounding and stimulation of the wound healing cascade stimulate collagen production and is likely responsible for the clinical results obtained.

Micro-needling produces substantial clinical improvement of scars, striae, and rhytids with quick recovery and minimal adverse effects, and it is considered to a safe option when treating dark skin types (Fitzpatrick IV-V) which are known to be prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Automated micro-needling has made the entire micro-needling treatment more precise, comfortable, more effective, and easy to be delivered when compared with traditional devices. Given its expedient post-treatment recovery, limited side effect profile, versatility, and significant clinical results, micro-needling is a valuable alternative to more invasive procedures such as laser skin resurfacing and deep chemical peeling especially in darker skin types.
